Vitamin D is needed in our diet to enhance the intestines ability to absorb calcium and other important minerals that can increase the strength of bones. Vitamin D can be found in eggs, cod liver oil and also in oily fish, such as salmon, mackerel and sardines.

Try and lose weight this year Obesity is a risk factor for the progression of osteoarthritis and this is the reason why weight loss is a key factor, in managing osteoarthritis.  Having a healthy body weight reduces the amount of pressure that the joint experiences and this can reduce the pain you experience. Exercise has an important role, when trying to reduce your weight. However, if your osteoarthritis causes extreme pain, weight loss can also be achieved with the help of a dietician. A dietician can assist you with changing your dietary habits and enable you to consume food with fewer calories, so that you can lose weight.
