Arthritis Care Partnership
AposTherapy® Partners with Arthritis Care
Today (17th March 2016) marks the start of a new enterprising healthcare partnership between innovators in musculoskeletal health and biomechanic technology, AposTherapy®, and the largest membership organisation for people with all types of arthritis across the UK, Arthritis Care.
The partnership, which will initially run for one year, was born out of AposTherapy®’s desire to help raise awareness of arthritis, particularly osteoarthritis, as well as driving education around general patient self-help management techniques with arthritis and to support the work that Arthritis Care offers.
Elad Duschak, President of AposTherapy® UK, said “Arthritis Care is one of the few places people living with arthritis and their carers can genuinely turn to for general information and support. We want to help to expand Arthritis Care’s reach and raise awareness of the great work they do. That’s why we have decided to raise money for Arthritis Care through a number of charitable activities including through sponsorship and making a contribution to Arthritis Care for each new patient that starts treatment during the year.”
“As a, drug-free and surgery-free treatment for people with knee, hip and lower back pain, AposTherapy® is a natural fit with Arthritis Care as many of our patients who come to us suffer from reduced mobility and increased pain due to arthritis, in particular osteoarthritis. As a result we can share our clinical expertise and knowledge to provide further general education.”
The partnership (amongst a number of other joint activities) will include AposTherapy® supporting and being the lead sponsor of a new Arthritis Care run lifestyle event on 10th September 2016 at Manchester Metropolitan University’s Birley Campus called Living Well with Arthritis: a happier and healthier you. The event is free to attend for anyone affected by arthritis.
AposTherapy® will also be providing educational talks around lower limb arthritis and self-help management techniques to better inform and empower people to take control of arthritis pain.
Judi Rhys, Chief Executive of Arthritis Care, said "We are delighted to be developing a partnership with AposTherapy® to support more people living with osteoarthritis. It is encouraging to see AposTherapy® taking osteoarthritis seriously and coming up with an innovative biomechanical intervention for people with lower limb arthritis.”
Diana Gornall, Director of Fundraising at Arthritis Care said “This is a wonderful opportunity for Arthritis Care and AposTherapy to work together. Both organisations are dedicated to providing high quality support to people with arthritis, and both organisations will benefit from working together. As a direct result of this partnership, Arthritis Care is delighted to be trialing a new outreach event “Living Well with Arthritis: a happier and healthier you” in Manchester in September”.
Heather Lawrence OBE, Non-Executive Chairman of AposTherapy remarked “At AposTherapy® we are dedicated to helping patients with lower limb pain and mobility challenges such as arthritis and osteoarthritis. Like Arthritis Care, we believe in investing in the future to give people living with arthritis the care and support they need as well as driving education on new and emerging self-help management practices to help keep the Great British Public mobile for longer. We have great admiration for Arthritis Care and are pleased to be supporting the incredible work they are doing.”
Knee OA patient Sheryll Holmwood, said “I think the new partnership between AposTherapy and Arthritis Care is very innovative and an excellent idea. AposTherapy encourages movement and flexibility and gets people back on their feet and moving in the right direction which can only help to alleviate stiffness in the joints and thus less pain. So I would say they go hand in hand! One is therapy and one is information and support on how to manage diet, exercise and lifestyle to alleviate symptoms and to encourage less inflammation and pain in the joints, so definitely a very good union.”
